Frequently Asked Questions

Where are your products made?

All of our pieces are handcrafted in our small workshop in Schoolcraft, Michigan. We source our lumber exclusively from the Great Lakes region, with most of it coming from within 100 miles of Kalamazoo. Unlike many products that are only assembled in the U.S. or rely on imported parts, our builds are 100% American-made—from raw lumber to final finish. By sourcing locally, we support nearby sawmills and practice responsible conservation by using what’s available close to home.

Can I customize the size, wood type, or finish?

Yes—customization is at the core of what we do. Whether you're looking for a specific size, wood species, finish tone, or height, we’re happy to tailor any piece to your needs. Most of our offerings—including tables, benches, cutting boards, and fitness equipment—can be personalized. We also offer laser engraving on any suitable surface. If you have a vision in mind, we’d love to help bring it to life.

Do you offer discounts for bulk or larger orders?

Yes! We’re happy to offer bulk discounts, especially for outfitting full spaces. Whether you're equipping a gym with a weight bench, squat stand, and one of our motivational “Man in the Arena” signs—or furnishing a living area with multiple matching end tables—we’re here to help create a cohesive feel. Let us know your needs and we’ll work with you on pricing and design.

I live in the Great Lakes region—do you offer local pickup or discounts?

Absolutely. Since most of our products ship fully assembled, packaging and shipping can be a significant part of the cost. If you're located in Michigan or nearby and can pick up your order, we’re happy to offer a meaningful discount. Local pickup not only saves you money but also supports our goal of keeping things efficient and community-focused. Reach out to coordinate.

How long does it take to receive my order?

Because everything is made to order, our typical turnaround is 3–6 weeks. Larger or highly customized pieces may take a bit longer depending on our current workload. We always keep you updated from the moment we begin your piece to the day it ships, and we’re transparent about production timelines.

Why does custom furniture take so long, and are any products available faster?

Real craftsmanship takes time. We build from solid hardwood and use finishes—such as food-safe oils and hardwax blends—that must cure for days or even weeks before they’re safe to ship. That said, we often have popular items like kids’ tables and weight benches already in progress or fully built. If you need something quickly, reach out and we’ll see what’s available or work with you to meet your timeline.

What is your warranty or return policy?

We offer a 30-day no-hassle guarantee: if you’re not satisfied, we’ll pay for return shipping and issue a full refund. We also provide free refurbishing within the first 6 months (buyer covers shipping both ways). After that, we charge a modest fee based on the type of repair. As a small shop, we stand behind our craftsmanship and offer the kind of personal service bigger companies often can’t.

Can I see your products in person before buying?

Not at the moment. We don’t currently have a showroom or retail space, so all products are available online via our website and our Etsy store at www.etsy.com/shop/glwoodcrafting. That said, we’re happy to provide additional photos, answer detailed questions, and ensure you’re confident before placing your order.
